Book & Notify

Book your mover — Ironmen accommodates same-day, last-minute, and advance bookings. Confirm CPUC license and binding written quote when you call.

Notify your child's school and request records transfer to new district

Request medical and dental records from current providers

Pull vet records for pets and check rabies vaccination is current

Start using up perishable food, frozen items, and household chemicals you can't move

If renting, give written notice per your lease

4 Weeks Out

Pack Non-Essentials

Order packing supplies (boxes, paper, bubble wrap, tape, markers) — see our Pro Packing Tips

Start packing rooms you barely use (guest room, attic, basement, formal dining)

File change of address with USPS at usps.com/move

Update address with bank, credit cards, insurance, employer, IRS, DMV

Notify subscription services (Amazon, magazines, meal kits, gym, streaming)

Take photos of valuables for insurance records before they're boxed

2 Weeks Out

Logistics & Utilities

Confirm move details with your Ironmen crew leader (date, time, addresses, access)

Schedule utilities transfer or shutoff at old home and new home (gas, electric, water, internet)

Arrange parking permits or elevator reservations at both addresses if needed

Pack most remaining rooms — leave only daily-use items

Use our Box Labeling System on every box as you pack

Confirm arrangements for kids and pets on move day (sitter, day care, kennel)

Refill prescriptions for at least 2 weeks

1 Week Out

Pack Last & Prep

Pack daily-use items last (kitchen essentials, bathroom, bedroom basics)

Drain gas-powered equipment (lawnmower, snowblower, weed whacker) — movers can't transport flammables

Properly dispose of paint, propane tanks, cleaning chemicals, aerosols, batteries

Defrost and clean the refrigerator and freezer 24–48 hours before move

Withdraw cash for tips (industry standard: $20–$40 per mover for a full-day local move)

Charge phone, laptop, and any portable batteries the night before

Move Day

Execute

Walk through the home with the Ironmen crew leader — show what goes and what stays

Confirm destination address and access details with the crew leader before loading starts

Keep your Survival Kit, valuables, and important documents with you — don't load them on the truck

Check off each inventory item as it's loaded (the Ironmen sheet)

Do a final empty-home walkthrough — closets, drawers, basement, attic, garage, mailbox

Lock up, leave keys per agreement, take final meter readings if landlord requires

Meet the truck at your new home, supervise unloading, and check off the inventory again

Sign the bill of lading only after every item is accounted for and undamaged
